Jeffrey M. Hoffman
Jeffrey M. Hoffman began his legal career at Lowe Stein in 2004 as an associate attorney
and was elected partner in 2013.
Mr. Hoffman has extensive experience in family law and he has litigated
cases and negotiated settlements involving divorces, child custody, child
support, spousal support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, community
property partitions, co-owned property partitions, and complex financial
matters. Mr. Hoffman has successfully prosecuted and/or defended numerous
cases involving the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement
Act (UCCJEA) and Louisiana’s relocation statute.
In 2013, Mr. Hoffman was recognized as a Rising Star in the area of family
law by the Super Lawyers publication, and he has now earned the distinction
of Super Lawyer by that same publication. Also in 2013, Mr. Hoffman was
appointed to the Family Law Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association.
In 2014, Mr. Hoffman was recognized as one of the “Top 10 Under
40” for excellence in the field of Family Law by the National Academy
of Family Law Attorneys. Since 2015, Mr. Hoffman has been recognized by
New Orleans Magazine as one of the Top Attorneys in the field of Family
Law, as well as being named by New Orleans CityBusiness as Ones To Watch:
Law 2017. He has also been named to Best Lawyers in America in 2017 and
has maintained that distinction.
In 2017, Mr. Hoffman was invited to be a speaker at the Louisiana State
University’s Continuing Legal Education seminar in Baton Rouge,
which is attended by family law attorneys from across the state, and where
he presented on the topic of Discovery in Family Law Cases. In 2018, Mr.
Hoffman was asked back to speak at the seminar on Ex Parte and Temporary
Child Custody Orders.
Mr. Hoffman has also successfully represented clients in personal injury
lawsuits, trade mark infringement cases, employment discrimination, sexual
harassment cases, and collection matters. He helps entrepreneurs form
their business, draft contracts and operating agreements and negotiate
leases. He also has experience in estate planning, including drafting
wills and trusts.
Since 2005, Mr. Hoffman has served as the firm’s liaison to the New
Orleans Pro Bono Project, which provides free legal services to members
of our community who are in need.
Mr. Hoffman is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and also
the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts
of Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
