Attorney Lowe & Attorney Hoffman Obtain Victory in Louisiana Supreme Court

During divorce proceedings in 2011, our client filed a lawsuit against her then-husband for restitution of 268 items of her separate property and other missing items. The case was tried by Attorney Robert C. Lowe and Attorney Jeffrey M. Hoffman for over four days in St. Tammany Parish. In the end, the trial judge awarded our client the immediate return of all of her property. In addition, the judge ordered the ex-husband to pay nearly $104,000 to compensate her for property that was missing upon a walk-through inspection.

However, the ex-husband would not let this decision come to pass. Through numerous writ applications and even after an appeal affirmed by the First Circuit Court of Appeal, his last-ditch efforts to overturn the trial court’s judgment took the case all the way up to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

In the end, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled in favor of our client, allowing her to reclaim her valuable and sentimental property and awarding the $104,000 for her missing furniture.
